The call that blows the schedule
On a panel upgrade, the utility is the part that runs your day, not the panel. Schedule the disconnect or meter pull early or you are standing around with a crew.
Run the load calc first so the new service is sized right. Lock out the power and confirm it is dead before you touch anything. Get the grounding and bonding right, because that is what the inspector checks hardest.
Land and label every circuit, add the AFCI and GFCI protection the code calls for, and post the panel schedule. Then get it inspected and re-energized.
The two steps people forget sit at the ends: scheduling the utility up front and calling to re-energize at closeout. Both are on this list so neither slips.
