Yards to order, tons on the truck
The yard sells gravel by volume, but the truck weighs it in tons. This gives you both, so you can order and check the ticket.
Pick the material and it applies a density to turn yards into tons. Crushed stone runs heavier than topsoil, and wet material weighs more than dry, so the tons are a close estimate, not a guarantee.
If you are building a base you plan to compact, add 10 to 20 percent. Loose gravel settles a lot under a plate or roller, and coming up thin means another delivery. Spread it a little proud and roll it down.

Around 1.4 tons for crushed stone, less for sand or topsoil. It depends on the material and how wet it is. Pick your material and the calculator estimates it.
