Most jobs are more than one rectangle. This calculator lets you add a row for each room or section, in feet, and adds them into one total, so you are not scribbling sums on the back of an estimate.
It gives you square feet, plus square yards for carpet and some flooring, and square meters for metric products. Add a waste allowance and it rounds up to what you should actually order.
For an irregular room, break it into rectangles and enter each as its own row. An L-shaped space is two rectangles; a room with a bump-out is the main rectangle plus the bump. Add them all and the total comes out right.
