A changeout is not a new install
On a changeout you are working around what is already there. The ductwork, the lineset, the pad. That is where the surprises hide.
Recover the refrigerant and log it. That is an EPA rule, not a suggestion. Decide early whether the old lineset gets flushed or replaced, because finding out after you braze is expensive.
The closeout steps are the ones that protect you. Document where the old equipment went. Register the warranty the day of the job, not next week when you have forgotten the model number.
