Time settings

Pay periods, overtime rules and the categories your crew can log time to.

Updated October 15, 2026

Time settings apply to the whole company. They decide when a week starts, when overtime kicks in, and what people can log time against besides projects.

  1. Click your avatar in the top right, choose Account Settings, then click Time.
  1. Set your Pay Periods (week start and schedule), Overtime Settings (weekly, daily and California rules), Time Entry options and the Paid Breaks duration.
  2. Under Non-Project Categories, click Add Item to create up to 10 categories (Sick Time, PTO, Shop, ...) that users can log time against.

Overtime rules

  • Weekly overtime applies after the hours you set, 40 by default.
  • Daily overtime and daily double time are optional. Turn them on for states that require them.
  • California rules follow that state's daily and seventh-day thresholds. Turn them on and Werx applies them for you.

Werx shows the rules as a reference only. Check your local labor law.
