Itemized estimates

Price the job line by line and send it for approval.

Updated October 15, 2026

An itemized estimate shows the customer each line of work with its quantity, unit and price. Use it when the customer expects detail, or when you want the lines to carry into the project budget.

  1. In the left navigation, click Projects > Estimates, then Add Estimate and choose Itemized.
  2. Pick the customer, name the estimate and add line items from your catalog or by typing them in, each with quantity, unit and price.
  1. Add your terms, then click Save & Send so the customer can approve it online.

Good to know

  • Catalog items fill in the unit, price and cost. Type a one-off line for anything not in the catalog.
  • Markup, discount and tax sit under the totals. Choose whether the customer sees markup as a line or folded into the prices.
  • Terms come from your default estimate terms template. Edit them on the estimate without changing the template.

Itemized estimates FAQ

Can I hide prices on some lines?

Use a proposal estimate for that. Itemized estimates show every line's price.

What does the customer see?

A branded page with the estimate, a PDF download and an Approve button. See What Your Customer Sees.
