Tracking contract changes

EWA, then COR, then change order. Nothing falls through the cracks.

Updated October 15, 2026

Extra work is where contractors lose money. Werx tracks it in three steps so every change is written down, priced and approved before it hits the contract.

  1. Open the contract project and click the Changes tab. Every change to the contract runs through three documents: an EWA (extra work authorization) captures the work, a COR (change order request) prices it, and an approved COR becomes a Change Order on the contract.
  1. Start either document from the Add menu in the top right: Add Extra Work Authorization or Add Change Order Request. Approved change orders appear on the Contract tab.

The three documents

1. Extra Work Authorization (EWA). The crew records the work and the customer signs on site. No pricing yet. See Extra Work Authorization. 2. Change Order Request (COR). You price the work and send it for approval. See Change Order Requests. 3. Change Order. The approved request is added to the contract and the next pay application. See Change Orders.

The Changes tab lists every document in the chain with its status.

Contract changes FAQ

Do I have to use all three?

No. You can start at the change order request if the customer already asked for the change, or go straight to a change order for a GC-issued one.

Can a COR cover several EWAs?

Yes. Pull signed EWAs into one request and price them together.
